Please print, read and sign both the OPS DBC Waiver and the RDA Waiver.  Both of these documents need to be given to us at the first practice.  Also please review the Safety Document.

This team was originally created in 2006 as the "Huron Swift Scales" with the objective to provide parents, school staff, and their children a chance to learn how to paddle a dragon boat and to experience the thrill of racing together.   The objectives and coaches haven't changed, just the name to "Rusty Dragons".   This team is open to anyone.   Kids aged 14 and up are also able to paddle on the team without a parent.  In past years, this team has performed very well and raced faster than some all-adult teams!  It's all about having fun and doing something DIFFERENT for Canada Day.

NOTE: Due to popular demand this team is FULL and is no longer taking registrations.  Let us know if you are looking for other opportunities to race, or register NOW for our Christie Lake team in fall.

Rusty Dragons at OPS Canada Day Regatta
Racing on Wednesday July 1, 2009 (includes 5 practices in May/June)

This is the fourth year for this special team, which is unique in that it allows parents and their children (aged 10 and older) to race together in a fun dragon boat regatta on Canada Day in Welland.  As always, you can't beat the entry fee as we do not charge for our coaching.

...and the results are in!
Congratulations to the Rusty Dragons "Are We There Yet?" team for a truly amazing show of enthusiasm, determination, and results on Canada Day!

The team had a great day on the water, finishing THIRD PLACE out of seven teams!  The whole team has Bronze medals to show for their work and a great day of memories.   We proudly wore our NEW Rusty Dragons T-shirts and we certainly got noticed on and off the water.   The team coaches were very proud of all paddlers, especially each of our new paddlers.
