This is the eight year for this team coached by Tim MacFarlane. The team will race at the 129th anniversary DDRA Canada Day Regatta at Toronto's Centre Island on Monday July 1st (YES, 129th annual - it started in 1884 for canoe/kayak and rowing teams, and dragon boats were added in 2003). The registration fee is $79 per person, which includes all practices and race day as well as use of life jackets and paddles. Smiles and team pride - FREE!

This team will practice for 8 weeks (once a week for an hour), and then compete in the DDRA Canada Day Regatta that takes place on scenic Centre Island. It's all about having fun and doing something different on Canada Day with family and friends.
Practices (8):
l Dates: Thursdays, 6-7pm, May 9 / 16 / 23 / 30 and June 6 / 13 / 20 / 27.
l Location: Balmy Beach Canoe Club (see Practice page).
l Equipment: Paddles and life jackets are provided.
l Objective: Learn how to paddle a dragon boat, practice teamwork, get fitter, and have FUN doing it.
Race Day:
l Date: Monday July 1st (Canada Day). The day starts at about 8:00am and ends about 4:00pm.
l Location: Allan A. Lamport Regatta Course on Toronto's Centre Island.
l Objective: Experience the thrill of racing other crews and having FUN with fellow paddlers and family and friends cheering from shore!

Note that $5 from this fee is a charity donation towards the Spirit Challenge dragon boat racing team for persons with developmental disabilities. They will be racing with us at the Canada Day event.
Latest News: Congratulations to all members of the Kraken Krew team for your smooth performance at the DDRA Canada Day Regatta on Canada Day. You raced a strong set of preliminary races, then saved the best for the championship final where you came in a hard-fought close 2nd place to the MTCS Oars to Discover team. In 2012 this team won the "B" Division for 4th place overall out of 10 teams. This year the team placed 2nd overall out of 9 teams. Congrats to all team members for which this was their first ever regatta. Great to see some of you continue beyond Canada Day on the Motley Crew team.
